Key Responsibilities Conduct regular site inspections, safety audits, and workplace assessments to identify hazards and ensure appropriate control measures are implemented. Monitor compliance with relevant Irish health and safety legislation, regulations, codes of practice, and company procedures. Assist in the preparation, review, and implementation of Risk Assessments and Method Statements (RAMS). Support the development and implementation of Construction Phase Plans, Safety Statements, Emergency Response Plans, and other project-specific safety documentation. Provide practical health and safety advice and guidance to project managers, site management, supervisors, engineers, employees, and subcontractors. Carry out inspections of plant, equipment, access arrangements, temporary works, work activities, PPE, housekeeping, welfare facilities, and site conditions. Assist with the investigation of accidents, incidents, near misses, dangerous occurrences, and environmental events, including identifying root causes and recommending corrective actions. Maintain accurate records of inspections, audits, incidents, training, corrective actions, and other health and safety activities. Monitor and follow up on corrective and preventative actions to ensure they are closed out within agreed timescales. Assist with the delivery of site inductions, toolbox talks, safety briefings, and health and safety training. Promote a positive safety culture and encourage employees and subcontractors to take ownership of health and safety. Review subcontractor health and safety documentation and monitor subcontractor compliance while working on company projects. Participate in pre-start meetings, site meetings, safety meetings, and project reviews as required. Assist with the management of occupational health requirements, including monitoring relevant exposure risks and workplace controls. Support emergency preparedness, including drills and reviews of emergency procedures. Keep up to date with changes in Irish health and safety legislation and industry best practice. Assist with internal and external audits and with maintaining relevant management system standards. Provide regular health and safety reports and updates to management.
Relevant qualification in Occupational Health & Safety, Health & Safety Management, Construction Safety, Engineering Safety, or a related discipline.
Previous experience in a construction, civil engineering, mechanical/electrical engineering, manufacturing, or similar high-risk environment.
Good knowledge of health and safety requirements applicable to construction and engineering activities in Ireland.
Practical experience conducting site inspections, audits, risk assessments, and incident investigations.
Experience preparing or reviewing Risk Assessments and Method Statements (RAMS).
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work independently and use initiative while also working effectively as part of a project team.
Strong organisational and report-writing skills.
Good attention to detail.
Full driving licence and willingness to travel to project sites as required.

The successful candidate will be responsible for managing steel fixing crews, coordinating reinforcement activities, interpreting drawings and bar bending schedules, and ensuring all reinforcement works are completed safely, accurately, and in accordance with project specifications and programme requirements.
