About our client
Our client is a construction and engineering company that provides design, steel fabrication, and steel erection and cladding services. Its work runs from the design stage through workshop fabrication to installation on site.
The role
As Production Engineer/Manager, you will run the day-to-day structural steel fabrication operation at our client's facility in County Cavan. You will plan and schedule production and lead the workshop team. You will also make sure steelwork leaves the facility on time, to specification and in the right order for the erection teams on site. You will work closely with the engineering and detailing teams, and with management on cost and efficiency.
What you will do
Plan production schedules and allocate labour, machinery and materials so that project deadlines are met.
Review fabrication drawings, 3D models and material requirements, and work with the engineering and detailing teams to resolve technical issues before and during fabrication.
Oversee cutting, drilling, fitting, welding and preparation work, making sure steelwork meets the required specifications, tolerances and quality standards.
Coordinate the supply of steel sections, plate, consumables and other materials, and track progress against project programmes so you can flag delays early.
Work with site erection teams so that steelwork is fabricated, marked, loaded and delivered in the correct sequence.
Manage quality control, making sure inspection and documentation processes are followed and production records are accurate.
Lead, support and develop fabricators, welders, fitters and machine operators, and make sure all production work follows health and safety requirements and company procedures.
Monitor production costs, labour efficiency and material usage with management, and find ways to improve productivity and reduce waste.
Essential
Proven experience in structural steel fabrication, ideally as a production engineer, production manager or senior supervisor.
A strong understanding of how a fabrication workshop runs and of structural steel processes, including welding, cutting, drilling, fitting and steel preparation.
The ability to read and interpret structural steel fabrication drawings and general arrangement drawings.
Experience coordinating production schedules and managing several projects at the same time.
A good understanding of quality control and structural steel standards.
The ability to communicate clearly with engineers, project managers, fabricators, suppliers and site teams.
Strong organisational and problem-solving skills, with a practical, hands-on approach to making decisions and solving production problems against tight deadlines.
A firm commitment to health and safety.
Desirable
An engineering qualification, or equivalent industry experience.
Experience with Tekla, StruCAD, AutoCAD or similar structural steel software.
Knowledge of EN 1090 and experience in CE or UKCA compliant structural steel manufacturing.
Experience with CNC saw and drill lines, plate processing, profiling or other automated fabrication equipment.
Experience coordinating steel erection or construction work, or putting lean manufacturing and continuous improvement practices in place.

The role Our client is looking for an experienced MIG/TIG Welder to join their team in County Tipperary on a permanent, full-time basis. You will produce accurate, sound welds on fabricated parts and assemblies, working from drawings and welding procedures. Day to day, you will set up your own equipment, prepare and fit up material, and check your finished work meets the required standard. Working 39 hours a week from Monday to Friday. What you will do Weld components and assemblies using MIG and TIG processes, choosing the right settings, filler and shielding gas for the material and joint. Read and interpret engineering drawings, weld symbols and welding procedure specifications before starting each job. Prepare material for welding by cutting, grinding, bevelling and cleaning, so that joints are ready for fit-up. Fit up, tack and align parts with clamps and jigs so that finished work meets the dimensions and tolerances on the drawing. Inspect your own welds visually and with basic measuring tools, then correct any defects before work moves on. Set up, look after and carry out routine checks on welding machines, torches and ancillary equipment. Follow safe systems of work, wear the correct personal protective equipment and keep your work area clean and organised. Record job details and quality checks as required, and raise any problems with materials, drawings or equipment promptly.
The role Our client is looking for a Pipe Fitter to join them on a permanent, full-time basis in County Tipperary. This is a skilled mechanical pipe fitting role rather than plumbing work. You will install, assemble, fabricate, maintain and repair high- and low-pressure mechanical piping systems from drawings and specifications, and you will make sure that each system is fitted correctly, tested and left safe for use. The work suits a fitter who is comfortable reading technical drawings, works carefully and accurately, and can take a job from setting out through to final testing. What you will do Read and interpret isometric drawings, general arrangement drawings and specifications to plan each pipework job. Measure, mark out, cut, bevel, thread and bend pipe to the required dimensions. Fabricate pipe spools and sub-assemblies from drawings, ready for installation or welding. Assemble and install pipe runs, fittings, flanges, valves and supports, keeping alignment, levels and spacing within tolerance. Join pipework using the correct method for the material and pressure rating, such as threading, bolting up flanged joints or fitting up joints for welding. Carry out pressure and leak testing on completed systems and correct any faults you find. Maintain, repair and modify existing high- and low-pressure piping systems when required. Follow safe systems of work, permits and method statements, and keep your work area tidy and safe. Look after your tools and equipment and report any defects or material shortages promptly.
