About This Role

Our client is a well-established motor dealership in South Dublin, selling new and used vehicles of all makes. As a main dealer for several manufacturers, they offer sales, servicing, parts, accident repair and recovery.
Their fully equipped service department covers diagnostics, timing belts, exhausts and brakes. The workshop sees a wide mix of modern European cars, such as VW, BMW, Audi, Mercedes-Benz and Skoda, alongside diesel pickups and light commercial vehicles.

Our client is looking for an experienced mechanic with strong diesel engine skills and hands-on experience on modern European cars. You will diagnose and repair everything from routine faults to major engine work. That includes stripping, repairing and rebuilding engines in-house.
You'll join a busy workshop that looks after customer vehicles, used stock and new franchise vehicles. This suits a technician who enjoys heavy mechanical work as much as diagnostics.

  • Fit timing belt and chain kits, and carry out turbo, injector, EGR and fuel system repairs

  • Repair clutches and gearboxes, including dual-mass flywheels and automatic or DSG units

  • Diagnose and repair DPF and AdBlue (SCR) systems, keeping all vehicles emissions-compliant

  • Carry out servicing, exhaust, brake and suspension work to manufacturer standards

  • Code, program and adapt components after repair

  • Prepare used stock and new vehicles for sale and the NCT

  • Keep accurate job cards and record parts and time used

  • Road-test vehicles and explain findings to the service team and customers

Requirements

  • At least 6 years' experience in a similar role

  • Proven diesel engine experience, including common-rail injection, turbochargers and EGR systems

  • Hands-on experience with modern European vehicles such as VW Group (VW, Audi, Skoda, Seat), BMW and Mercedes-Benz

  • Has stripped, repaired and rebuilt engines unsupervised, from removal to first start

  • Confident with diagnostic equipment, wiring diagrams and live data

  • Own toolkit

  • Full, clean driving licence

  • Eligible to work in Ireland

Desirable

  • Gearbox experience: clutch replacements, internal gearbox repairs, and DSG or automatic servicing and adaptations

  • DPF experience: fault diagnosis, forced regenerations, cleaning and replacement

  • AdBlue (SCR) experience: pump, heater, injector, tank and NOx sensor faults, including coding after repair

  • Experience on diesel 4x4 pickups and light commercial vans

  • Manufacturer training or main dealer background

  • Recovery or breakdown experience

Benefits

  • Salary of €42,000 - €52,000 depending on experience
