County Galway | Permanent | €20.00 to €25.00 an hour
About our client
Our client supplies sheds to customers and installs them on site. Their installation crews travel together to each job in 7.5-tonne trucks towing a small trailer, carrying the sheds and equipment they need to complete each fit.
The role
Our client is looking for an Installation Fitter to join one of their installation teams on the road. You will fit the company's sheds on customer sites as part of the crew, and you will also drive the crew's 7.5-tonne truck and trailer to each job and back. This is a permanent, full-time position working Monday to Friday, suited to someone who holds the right category of licence and is happy to combine practical hands-on fitting work with driving.
What you will do
Drive the crew's 7.5-tonne truck with a small trailer attached safely and legally between the yard and customer sites.
Plan your routes and timings with the team so that each installation starts on schedule.
Load, secure and unload sheds, materials and tools, making sure every load is properly restrained before you set off.
Carry out daily walkaround checks on the truck and trailer and report any defects promptly.
Keep accurate records of your driving and rest times using your Driver Card and the vehicle's tachograph.
Work with the rest of the installation crew to assemble and fit sheds on customer sites.
Leave each site clean and tidy and treat customers' homes and property with care.
Follow your employer's health and safety procedures on the road and on site.
Essential
A full, valid EU driving licence in category C1E or CE, so that you can drive a 7.5-tonne truck towing a trailer.
A valid Driver CPC (Certificate of Professional Competence).
A valid Driver Card for use with digital tachographs.
Experience of towing a trailer behind a rigid truck, including reversing and manoeuvring in tight spaces.
A good working knowledge of the rules on drivers' hours, tachographs and load security.
Willingness to work as part of an installation crew fitting sheds on customer sites.
The physical fitness to lift, carry and handle materials safely throughout the working day.
Desirable
Previous experience installing sheds, garden buildings or other timber structures.
Confidence using common hand and power tools.
A current manual handling certificate.
Knowledge of the road network in Ireland.
A clean driving record.
