County Dublin | Permanent | €55,000 to €63,750 a year
The role
Our client is looking for a permanent, full-time Architect role based in Dublin. You will turn client ideas into buildable designs for bespoke metalwork and structural steel, from feature staircases and laser-cut gates to railings and steel supports for extensions. You will work closely with clients at the start of each project and with the fabrication team as the work moves into the workshop and on to site, so that what is designed can be made, installed and used safely.
What you will do
Meet clients to understand their brief, the site and their budget, and develop design options with them.
Prepare concept designs, 3D renderings and visualisations so clients can approve a design before fabrication starts.
Produce detailed drawings and specifications for the workshop, covering dimensions, materials, finishes and fixings.
Carry out site visits and surveys to take measurements and check how new metalwork will fit existing buildings.
Check designs against the Building Regulations, in particular for stairs, guarding, handrails and access ramps.
Work with the fabricators and installers to resolve detailing questions and keep designs practical to build.
Advise on whether planning permission or other consents are needed, and prepare drawings for applications where required.
Liaise with structural engineers on steel supports and load-bearing elements.
Review completed work to confirm it matches the approved design.
Essential
A recognised qualification in architecture.
Registration with the RIAI, as the title Architect is protected in Ireland under the Building Control Act 2007.
Experience producing detailed design and construction drawings.
Strong skills in CAD and 3D modelling software for drawings and client renderings.
A working knowledge of the Irish Building Regulations, especially Part K (stairways, ramps and guards) and Part M (access and use).
A Safe Pass card, or the willingness to get one before visiting construction sites.
Good spoken and written English for client meetings and drawing notes.
Desirable
Experience designing bespoke metalwork, architectural steel or joinery.
An understanding of fabrication methods such as welding, laser cutting and powder coating.
Familiarity with materials such as mild steel, 316 stainless steel and Corten steel.
Experience preparing planning applications in the Dublin area.
Experience with heritage or restoration projects.

Produce, review and approve technical drawings, and work with draughtspeople or CAD technicians to make sure drawings are accurate and ready for use. Assess project requirements, site conditions and loadings so that designs are safe, buildable and cost-effective. Work with production and site teams to resolve technical queries and make sure work is carried out to the approved design. Carry out site visits and inspections to check progress, quality and compliance, and record your findings clearly. Prepare technical reports, method statements and documents that support quality control and certification. About our client Our client is a structural steel fabricator providing steel fabrication services to customers in Ireland and across Europe. As well as an in-house detailing and 3D modelling team working in Tekla, they run their own production workshop with CNC plate processing, shot blasting and steel coating, and they have their own transport and erection teams. Their main contractor customers value their in-house technical and quality standards and their digital capabilities. The role Our client is hiring two BIM Detailers to join their in-house detailing team in County Cork. In this role you will turn engineering and architectural information into accurate 3D structural steel models in Tekla Structures, then produce the drawings and files that the fabrication workshop and site erection teams work from. You will work closely with engineers, fabricators, project managers and site teams, often on several drawings and models at a time. What you will do Build accurate 3D structural steel models in Tekla Structures from engineering, architectural and fabrication drawings. Produce GA, fabrication, assembly and erection drawings to the company's drawing standards. Detail steel connections, plates, bolts, welds and other structural components so they can be fabricated and erected correctly. Read engineering drawings, architectural drawings and structural calculations, and apply the correct dimensions, tolerances and levels. Find clashes and detailing problems in the model and suggest practical solutions to engineers and project managers. Prepare CNC/DSTV files and material lists for the workshop. Check your models and drawings against quality-control procedures before they are issued. Manage your drawings and models so that you meet project deadlines. Work with fabricators and site teams to answer queries and keep information up to date.
The role Our client is looking for an experienced MIG/TIG Welder to join their team in County Tipperary on a permanent, full-time basis. You will produce accurate, sound welds on fabricated parts and assemblies, working from drawings and welding procedures. Day to day, you will set up your own equipment, prepare and fit up material, and check your finished work meets the required standard. Working 39 hours a week from Monday to Friday. What you will do Weld components and assemblies using MIG and TIG processes, choosing the right settings, filler and shielding gas for the material and joint. Read and interpret engineering drawings, weld symbols and welding procedure specifications before starting each job. Prepare material for welding by cutting, grinding, bevelling and cleaning, so that joints are ready for fit-up. Fit up, tack and align parts with clamps and jigs so that finished work meets the dimensions and tolerances on the drawing. Inspect your own welds visually and with basic measuring tools, then correct any defects before work moves on. Set up, look after and carry out routine checks on welding machines, torches and ancillary equipment. Follow safe systems of work, wear the correct personal protective equipment and keep your work area clean and organised. Record job details and quality checks as required, and raise any problems with materials, drawings or equipment promptly.
